Between May and July 2025, nine productions that benefited from the CINA \u2013 Transferable Tax Credit<\/em> were released on international streaming platforms and in movie theaters. Some of them were filmed in Colombia, while others chose the country as a post-production destination, taking advantage of the 35% tax incentive on audiovisual services.<\/p>\n

The film Shadow Force<\/strong><\/em>, released in U.S. theaters on May 9<\/strong> and in Colombian theaters on July 17<\/strong>, brings together a powerful cast led by Kerry Washington<\/strong>, Omar Sy<\/strong>, and Colombian actress Natalia Reyes<\/strong>, under the direction of Joe Carnahan<\/strong>. Produced by Lionsgate<\/strong> and shot in Colombia by Dynamo<\/strong>, the film was filmed in over a dozen cities, including Bogot\u00e1<\/strong>, Medell\u00edn<\/strong>, Cartagena<\/strong>, and the Rosario Islands<\/strong>, and has been praised for its action sequences. Reyes, who plays Moriti<\/em>, expressed pride in the project: \u201cThis is a film made thanks to the CINA \u2013 Transferable Tax Credit. It shows Colombia as Colombia\u2014not only in front of the camera but behind it as well. There\u2019s Colombian talent, a great Colombian crew who made this film possible, with amazing locations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

El novicio rebelde<\/strong><\/em>, a comedy starring Hassam<\/strong> and Paola Rey<\/strong>, premiered on May 30<\/strong> on Prime Video<\/em>. The series was produced in Colombia by Rhayuela Films<\/strong> and Punta Fina<\/strong>, directed by Rodrigo Triana<\/strong>, and filmed in traditional Bogot\u00e1 neighborhoods such as Santa In\u00e9s<\/em>, El Milagro<\/em>, and Bosque Real<\/em>. Executive producer Federico Dur\u00e1n<\/strong> highlighted how projects supported by Law 1556<\/em> position Colombia as a country capable of creating original content aimed at local audiences with international potential.<\/p>\n

In June<\/strong>, the third season of La primera vez<\/strong><\/em>, produced by Caracol Televisi\u00f3n<\/strong>, premiered on Netflix<\/em>. It became the first Colombian production to reach three seasons on the platform. During its launch, it was the most-watched Colombian series on Netflix<\/em>, topping the national ranking for several consecutive weeks. It also entered the platform\u2019s global Top 10<\/strong>, amassing over 12.8 million hours watched<\/strong> in its second week and ranking among the most-watched titles in several Latin American countries.<\/p>\n

On July 18<\/strong>, Netflix<\/em> released Delirio<\/strong><\/em>, an eight-episode adaptation of Laura Restrepo<\/strong>\u2019s acclaimed novel, produced by TIS Studios<\/strong>. Less than a week after its premiere, the series entered Netflix<\/em>\u2019s Global Top 10<\/strong> for non-English language series, with 1.4 million views<\/strong> between July 18 and 20. It also ranked in countries such as Argentina<\/strong>, Colombia<\/strong>, Chile<\/strong>, Costa Rica<\/strong>, Ecuador<\/strong>, Panama<\/strong>, Uruguay<\/strong>, Venezuela<\/strong>, Hungary<\/strong>, Poland<\/strong>, and Romania<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Two recent productions tackle local narratives through different genres. COPES: Comandos de \u00c9lite<\/strong><\/em>, a documentary series available on Prime Video<\/em> with production services by TIS Studios<\/strong>, offers an intense, realistic portrayal of Colombia\u2019s special forces. El clan Olimpia<\/strong><\/em>, released on Disney+<\/em> on July 9<\/strong> and produced by 64A Films<\/strong>, tells the story of a mother who enters the drug trade to protect her family. The series was filmed in Barranquilla<\/strong> and stars Zaira Romero<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Dora and the Search for the Golden Sun<\/strong><\/em> premiered on Nickelodeon<\/em> and Paramount+<\/em> on July 2<\/strong> (international release on July 4<\/strong>), marking the second live-action installment of Dora the Explorer<\/em>. Produced by TIS Studios<\/strong>, the film was directed by Alberto Belli<\/strong> and stars Samantha Lorraine<\/strong>. It was shot between July and November 2024<\/strong> in locations across Bogot\u00e1<\/strong>, Cundinamarca<\/strong>, Antioquia<\/strong>, and the R\u00edo Claro<\/strong> nature reserve. \u201cFilming in Colombia made possible what would have been impossible elsewhere. Not just because of cost, but because of the people\u2014their commitment and passion. That\u2019s priceless. Here, you find a team willing and able to get the most out of every resource,\u201d<\/em> said Belli.<\/p>\n

Finally, two CINA<\/em>-supported productions in post-production recently premiered on streaming platforms. On June 18<\/strong>, Netflix<\/em> released the fourth season of Rosario Tijeras<\/strong><\/em>, starring B\u00e1rbara de Regil<\/strong> and Sebasti\u00e1n Mart\u00ednez<\/strong>, with post-production handled by Teleset<\/strong>. Meanwhile, Disney+<\/em> premiered 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea<\/strong><\/em>, a series that expands the universe of Journey to the Center of the Earth<\/em> and also received the CINA \u2013 Transferable Tax Credit<\/em> for post-production, carried out by TIS Studios<\/strong>. The cast includes Paty Cant\u00fa<\/strong>, \u00d3scar Jaenada<\/strong>, and Margarita Rosa de Francisco<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

More premieres supported by Law 1556<\/em> incentives are expected in the second half of the year, including Consuelo<\/strong><\/em> (Season 2<\/em>), Los 39<\/strong><\/em>, and Pecados Inconfesables<\/strong><\/em>, as well as FFC<\/em>-supported productions Mar\u00eda la caprichosa<\/strong><\/em> and Work It Out Wombats<\/strong><\/em> (Season 2<\/em>)\u2014a testament to the continued momentum of projects choosing Colombia for filming and post-production.<\/p>\n
