The Colombia Film Commission will take part in the 2025 edition of Gamescom, the most important interactive consumer electronics event in Europe and one of the key global gatherings for the video game industry. The event will be held from August 20 to 24 at the Koelnmesse Convention Center in Cologne, Germany.
Since its creation in 2009, Gamescom has become a showcase for the launch and promotion of the latest innovations in interactive entertainment software and hardware. Each year, the event brings together exhibitors from all over the world and features two main areas: one open to the general public and another reserved exclusively for industry professionals —developers, publishers, distributors, journalists, and other key players— where conferences, presentations, and business meetings take place.
In 2024, the fair welcomed more than 320,000 visitors from over 100 countries, along with more than 1,200 companies and development studios. These figures confirm its relevance as a networking space and as a platform for building international partnerships.
In this 2025 edition, the Colombia Film Commission will have an institutional presence with the participation of Silvia Echeverri, Director of the CFC, and Diego Bustos, Deputy Director of Promotion. They will carry out a schedule of meetings with studios and international organizations to promote Colombia’s advantages as a destination for video game production and other audiovisual formats. Central topics will include the dissemination of the benefits of Law 1556 and the Audiovisual Investment Certificate – CINA, two key tools to attract foreign productions and strengthen local talent. Thanks to this incentive, recent titles such as Champions Ascension, FIFA Rivals, and Rival Stars Horse Racing: VR Edition have been developed in the country, involving Colombian talent and companies in their creative and technical processes.
Timba, Dead Monkey, Indie Level Studio, Datolabs, and Maleiwa Studio are the companies traveling with the support of the CINA System call. Timba has more than 14 years of experience in video game development and gamification solutions; Dead Monkey, founded in 2019, is a boutique studio specialized in Work For Hire projects with Unreal Engine; Indie Level Studio, with 10 years of experience, offers full-cycle and co-development services with international recognition; Datolabs combines technology and creativity to develop immersive experiences in augmented reality and video games; and Maleiwa Studio focuses on creating original IPs that are visually unique and emotionally powerful to connect with players worldwide.
Participation in Gamescom is part of the Colombia Film Commission’s strategy to continue exploring and consolidating the video game industry as a fundamental component of the country’s audiovisual ecosystem. The agenda will include meetings with studios and promotion agencies from other countries in order to exchange experiences and open new opportunities for the sector.
The Colombia Film Commission is a project of Proimágenes Colombia, with the support of the National Government. Its mission is to promote Colombia as a destination for filming and production across all audiovisual formats: film, television, animation, video games, and more.
