CAPILLA DE SANTA BARBARA

Romanesque temple from the late 17th century, built entirely of yellow stone. Its façade is original, its interior rigorously restored, it has a beautiful polychrome wooden altarpiece. On the main altar there is a carved stone detail: Two turtles and a sun, the turtles in colonial iconography, symbolized the pious married woman who lives withdrawn doing her domestic work. The Chapel is located in the upper part of Barichara, crowning the entire town. In front of it, there are sculptures of a cross and two oxen that plow the land. On the loose stone inside it is inscribed the date of 1800 when it was put into service. The Chapel of Santa Bárbara is an offering to the holy lawyer of storms, storms and the good death. It is used for high society marriages and as an alternate room for exhibitions.
