Inercia Películas is an art & experimentation film house under the direction of Paola Andrea Pérez Nieto (producer of Land and Shade, 2015 Cannes Camera d'Or / Violence, 2015 Berlinale Forum release).
Early productions included development of short films NO ESTÁ EN CASA, SALIÓ A BUSCAR TRABAJO by Juan Felipe Rayo, POBRE PAYASO by Paola Andrea Pérez Nieto, and A SOLAS by Ingrid Pérez López, co-produced with Contravía Films and selected in 2009 for the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival - FICCI (Colombia), the Festival Rencontres Cinémas D'Amérique Latine in Toulouse (France) and the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana (Cuba). The company has also produced audiovisual and printed pieces for PAHO (Pan American Health Organization), OEPA (Program for the Elimination of Onchocerciasis in the Americas), and the Health Secretariat of Cauca.
In 2020 the company produced together with Contravía Films, in co-production with Telepacífico (with the support of ANTV) the series TURBIA, directed by Oscar Ruiz Navia, César Augusto Acevedo, Carlos Moreno, Santiago Lozano, William Vega and Jorge Navas. It got Best Latin American Fiction Series and "Designing the Future" Award at the TAL Awards (2021). It was selected at the Series Mania Festival (2022) and Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival – LALIFF (2022). Inercia is minority co-producer of the feature documentary LA OPCIÓN CERO directed by Marcel Beltrán and produced by Mediocielo (Brazil) and Marinka Films (Cuba), which had its European premiere at IDFA Luminous (2020), North American premiere at Hot Docs (2021) and Colombian premiere at the Bogotá International Film Festival - BIFF 2021, winner of Best International Documentary at Miradas Doc (2022) and winner of the Ibero-American Official Competition at FIDBA (2022) among other awards; and the feature documentary LOS ZULUAGAS directed by Flavia Montini and produced by Film Affair (Italy), premiered at the Festival dei Popoli, winner of the "Los Imperdibles" Award (2021); "Valentina Pediciniy" Award at the Nastri d'Argento Awards Ceremony (2022). Currently, Inercia Películas is working on the development of the fiction feature films HORIZONTE by César Augusto Acevedo, selected in BrLab (2017), Cinéfondation Residency (Cannes - 2018), Ibero-American Film Project Development Course (Carolina Foundation and Ibermedia Program, 2020), beneficiary of the Colombian Film Development Fund - FDC (Fiction Feature Film Production, 2020), the French fund "Aide aux cinémas du monde" (CNC, 2021), HBF + Europe, Ibermedia Program support for Co-production, the German Regional Fund (NRW, 2022) and the Film Fund of Luxembourg. The project is co-produced by Ciné Sud Promotion (France), Quijote Films (Chile), Unafilm (Germany) and Tarantula (Luxemburgo). DONDE COMIENZA EL RÍO by Juan Andrés Arango (La Playa D.C., X-500), participant in Cine Qua Non Lab, BAM Stories of the Bogota Audiovisual Market (2020), and the 10th Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum (San Sebastian, 2021) where he won the DALE Award; the production is a beneficiary of the Colombian Film Development Fund - FDC (Fiction Feature Film Production, 2021) and the Artistic Production Grant awarded by the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec - CALQ (2021); it is co-produced by Midi La Nuit (Canada), Ciné Sud Promotion (France) and Mer Film (Norway); MI BESTIA directed by Camila Beltrán, beneficiary of the Colombian Film Development Fund - FDC (Fiction Feature Film Production, 2019) the film is a co-production with Bells Medios (Colombia), Felina Films (Colombia), Films Grand Huit (France). And EL DIARIO DE LAS OTRAS by Mariana Mosquera, selected in the Screenwriting Lab of the Cali International Film Festival - FICCALI and the Bolivia Lab Pitch Rally (2022). In addition to the fiction short film DELIRIO by Fernando Iriarte.
Inercia is also developing the documentaries MEMORIAS DE UN COPILOTO by Diego García-Moreno, beneficiary of the Colombian Film Development Fund - FDC (Documentary Project Writing, 2012) and IDARTES Grant in Research and Writing for Documentary Feature Film Project (2020), it is a co-production with Lamaraca Producciones. It is working at the stage of post-production of DE NIRO IS NOT MY DAD by Manuela Montoya, in co-production with La Liebre Films and Tardeo Temprano,Both of them winners of the FDC Development Grant - Colombia.
In the last years Inercia Películas has participated in markets such as the Marché du Film and L' Atelier at the Cannes Film Festival, the BAM - Bogotá Audiovisual Market, Ventana Sur and EFM - European Film Market, and its head producer, Paola Andrea Pérez Nieto, was selected in 2021 to participate in PUENTES EAVE with the project Horizonte. In 2022 Inercia Películas was one of the six companies selected, and the only one from Latin America, to be part of the Atlantic Film Accelerator, a project of the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster (CLAC).
