In the prudish 1950s, a time when women were forbidden to have opinions and feelings, Consuelo Garza is a compliant housewife, amidst a moralistic upper-class neighborhood in Mexico City. However, her life takes a turn the day her husband abandons her, leaving her in charge of three children, humiliated before society, and, to make matters worse, terribly indebted. With her lack of ability to support her family, Consuelo is forced to accept the unusual proposal of selling sex toys undercover, risking public scorn from the puritanical circle of her neighbors, a group of women equally scandalized and curious about the topic. Soon, Consuelo will be in charge of a surprisingly prosperous business through which she will become not only a clandestine sex counselor but also an empowered and capable woman, the mistress of her destiny... and her pleasures.
