PARQUE PRINCIPAL GUANE

Historically, this place was known as "Moncora". Since the time of the Conquest, the Spanish concentrated the surviving and indoctrinated Guanes Indians in this space. In 1605, the Confraternity of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was established there. Over time, an imposing temple was created and a parish priest was appointed to baptize 134 indigenous people and confirm 490 people, among them the chiefs of Móncora, Coratá, Chuagüete and Macaregua. This created an important religious culture in the area and an identity among the indigenous Guanes, which still persists.
