Between May and July 2025, nine productions that benefited from the CINA – Transferable Tax Credit were released on international streaming platforms and in movie theaters. Some of them were filmed in Colombia, while others chose the country as a post-production destination, taking advantage of the 35% tax incentive on audiovisual services.

The film Shadow Force, released in U.S. theaters on May 9 and in Colombian theaters on July 17, brings together a powerful cast led by Kerry Washington, Omar Sy, and Colombian actress Natalia Reyes, under the direction of Joe Carnahan. Produced by Lionsgate and shot in Colombia by Dynamo, the film was filmed in over a dozen cities, including Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, and the Rosario Islands, and has been praised for its action sequences. Reyes, who plays Moriti, expressed pride in the project: “This is a film made thanks to the CINA – Transferable Tax Credit. It shows Colombia as Colombia—not only in front of the camera but behind it as well. There’s Colombian talent, a great Colombian crew who made this film possible, with amazing locations.”

El novicio rebelde, a comedy starring Hassam and Paola Rey, premiered on May 30 on Prime Video. The series was produced in Colombia by Rhayuela Films and Punta Fina, directed by Rodrigo Triana, and filmed in traditional Bogotá neighborhoods such as Santa Inés, El Milagro, and Bosque Real. Executive producer Federico Durán highlighted how projects supported by Law 1556 position Colombia as a country capable of creating original content aimed at local audiences with international potential.

In June, the third season of La primera vez, produced by Caracol Televisión, premiered on Netflix. It became the first Colombian production to reach three seasons on the platform. During its launch, it was the most-watched Colombian series on Netflix, topping the national ranking for several consecutive weeks. It also entered the platform’s global Top 10, amassing over 12.8 million hours watched in its second week and ranking among the most-watched titles in several Latin American countries.

On July 18, Netflix released Delirio, an eight-episode adaptation of Laura Restrepo’s acclaimed novel, produced by TIS Studios. Less than a week after its premiere, the series entered Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English language series, with 1.4 million views between July 18 and 20. It also ranked in countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Uruguay, Venezuela, Hungary, Poland, and Romania.

Two recent productions tackle local narratives through different genres. COPES: Comandos de Élite, a documentary series available on Prime Video with production services by TIS Studios, offers an intense, realistic portrayal of Colombia’s special forces. El clan Olimpia, released on Disney+ on July 9 and produced by 64A Films, tells the story of a mother who enters the drug trade to protect her family. The series was filmed in Barranquilla and stars Zaira Romero.

Dora and the Search for the Golden Sun premiered on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ on July 2 (international release on July 4), marking the second live-action installment of Dora the Explorer. Produced by TIS Studios, the film was directed by Alberto Belli and stars Samantha Lorraine. It was shot between July and November 2024 in locations across Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Antioquia, and the Río Claro nature reserve. “Filming in Colombia made possible what would have been impossible elsewhere. Not just because of cost, but because of the people—their commitment and passion. That’s priceless. Here, you find a team willing and able to get the most out of every resource,” said Belli.

Finally, two CINA-supported productions in post-production recently premiered on streaming platforms. On June 18, Netflix released the fourth season of Rosario Tijeras, starring Bárbara de Regil and Sebastián Martínez, with post-production handled by Teleset. Meanwhile, Disney+ premiered 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, a series that expands the universe of Journey to the Center of the Earth and also received the CINA – Transferable Tax Credit for post-production, carried out by TIS Studios. The cast includes Paty Cantú, Óscar Jaenada, and Margarita Rosa de Francisco.

More premieres supported by Law 1556 incentives are expected in the second half of the year, including Consuelo (Season 2), Los 39, and Pecados Inconfesables, as well as FFC-supported productions María la caprichosa and Work It Out Wombats (Season 2)—a testament to the continued momentum of projects choosing Colombia for filming and post-production.
