The municipality was founded more than 400 years ago and preserves some of the buildings from that era. It has paved streets, with some unpaved ones, and colorful houses made of concrete or painted bahareque with tile or zinc roofs. It has access to various bodies of water due to its proximity to the Magdalena River. Land access via the main highway from Valledupar, in excellent condition. Parking is available on the surrounding streets. A production base can be set up on the street or inside the San Miguel Parish or the Cultural Center, both located around the plaza. Wi-Fi and basic services are available in homes and commercial premises.
