Description
According to the account by Gabriel Camargo Pérez, the first reference to the plaza is mentioned around the year 1601, when the four sides of the square were divided, and the lot for the jail was designated, where later the magistrate's palace would be built (now the Municipal Palace). As a physical description, it's worth mentioning the Monument to the Sun and the Heroes of La Ramada Fountain as integral elements of the square. One of the deficiencies we find is the lack of relationship between the square and its sides. In the central part, there's the Monument to the Race, and towards the east, you'll find the San Martín de Tours Cathedral. This plaza is also used for municipal events.
