To commemorate of the 40th anniversary of the announcement of Gabriel García Márquez as Nobel Prize for Literature, Netflix revealed the trailer and some details of 'Macondo', a beneficiary production of the Audiovisual Investment Certificates - CINA.

Netflix shared a preview of the series 'Macondo', an adaptation of the novel 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' by Gabriel García Márquez, in a press release from Francisco Ramos, vice president of content in Latin America for the platform. The series, made with Dynamo's services, was approved to receive the CINA (Audiovisual Investment Certificate) incentive granted by the Colombian Government and administered by Proimágenes Colombia. The benefit is a tax discount equivalent to 35% of the expenditure on audiovisual services in the country.

Alex García López and Laura Mora will direct the first season. Alex has previously helmed series such as 'The Witcher' and 'Utopia', winner in 2014 of the Emmy for best drama series; and Laura, director of 'Matar a Jesús' and 'Los reyes del mundo', a film selected to represent Colombia at the 2023 Academy Awards, and series such as 'Frontera verde' and 'El robo del siglo'. The production design will be in charge of Eugenio Caballero, Oscar winner for Guillermo del Toro's 'Pan's Labyrinth' and Oscar nominee Barbara Enriquez.

The script will be adapted by José Rivera, known for films such as 'The Motorcycle Diaries' and 'Los 33', along with a team including Natalia Santa, 'Historia de un crimen: Colmenares', Camila Brugés, 'Frontera verde' and Albatros González, 'Lynch', who will also be advised by María Camila Arias, 'Los reyes del mundo'. The cinematographer will be Paulo Pérez, 'Frontera verde', a series shot in the heart of the Colombian Amazon.

It is worth mentioning that the adaptation of this emblematic work of Latin American literature is possible thanks to the support and trust of Rodrigo García and Gonzalo García.
