Tom Hiddleston in The Night Manager S2, filmed in Colombia with the CINA Incentive

Incentives/Serie

On January 11, the second season of this series starring Tom Hiddleston, filmed in Colombia and a beneficiary of the CINA incentive, will premiere on Prime Video.

Since its implementation, the Transferable Tax Credit (CINA) has become a key driver for Colombia’s audiovisual industry, supporting the development of more than 165 international productions. These projects have generated investments exceeding COP 3.4 trillion and have created over 130,000 direct jobs, positioning the country as a regional benchmark in competitiveness for audiovisual production.

In 2025, the incentive further confirmed its impact with the approval of 32 projects that filled the entire available quota, spanning formats such as feature films, series, reality shows, video games, post-production, and animation. Among the recent titles supported by CINA is the second season of The Night Manager, scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on January 11. “Coming to Colombia was a huge decision. The tax incentive is very favorable for productions coming to the country, which made everything much easier and had a significant financial impact on the series,” shared the show’s executive producer, Matthew Patnick.

Barry Ryan, Head of Production at Ink Factory and also a producer on the first season, told Variety that more than 75% of the story is set in Colombia. After meeting with AG Studios, led by Colombian producer Rodrigo Guerrero, the project took definitive shape. Filming was carried out with a crew largely made up of local talent (326 people across technical and artistic teams) and took place in Girardot and various locations in Cundinamarca, Cartagena, and the Aburrá Valley in Antioquia. With the exception of some highly specialized camera equipment, the production relied on rented technical infrastructure through Congo Films, a Colombian rental house, sales company, and film school.

“I loved the way Rodrigo approached the production, but also how he treated people, the way he took care of his crew… He has extensive experience across different productions, is very level-headed, and is very proud of Colombia. He’s an incredible ambassador for the country,” Barry Ryan added to Variety.

AG Studios has been involved in the development and production of outstanding audiovisual projects across both film and television, including Los iniciados by Juan Felipe Orozco, Los iniciados: el diario de las sombras by Carlos Moreno, Long Shot by Jonathan Levine, and Jungle by Greg McLean, as well as the series Estado de Fuga, Los Billis, and La reina del sur.

In The Night Manager, Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) embarks on a new mission in Colombia to stop dangerous arms dealer Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva) and his seductive partner Roxana Bolaños (Camila Morrone). After infiltrating Teddy’s operation, Pine uncovers a web of secrets and corruption. Will he manage to stop the conspiracy in time?

Other titles that have also benefited from the Transferable Tax Credit (CINA) and are scheduled for release in 2026 include the second season of One Hundred Years of Solitude, produced for Netflix, as well as a documentary dedicated to Colombian footballer James Rodríguez, which will also premiere on the platform.
