Description
The historical background of Ráquira refers to a territory inhabited by the Táquira, Ráquira, and Mocabita indigenous peoples, belonging to the Chibcha family. After the 16th century, the towns of Ráquira and Mocabita merged and became one. Ráquira, which means "city of pots" in the Muisca language, has been characterized by showcasing a wide variety of artistic expressions throughout its history. Hammocks, sacks, baskets, clothing, pots, plates, glasses, toys, and other typical objects are among the handicrafts that the Ráquira culture proudly displays.
