The municipal territory is mostly flat, with undulating terrain to the east, reaching heights of up to 500 m above sea level. These hills correspond to the foothills of the Serranía de los Motilones or Perijá mountain range, with more lush vegetation. Some nearby rural areas are arid and almost desert-like, with cacti and shrubs. It is a clean municipality with paved streets and well-maintained sidewalks. It preserves some streets with period buildings, and some neighborhoods with brick and concrete houses. Easy land access via a well-maintained main road from Valledupar. Street parking is available and parking is available for setting up a production base. Relatively low vehicular traffic, except on the main thoroughfare. There are no services or Wi-Fi available, but there are businesses and properties that can meet these needs. The streets are wide, clean, and well-organized.
