Description
According to history, this church was built in commemoration of Santa Lucia, the patron saint of the municipality, who was born in Syracuse, Italy, around the year 280. This martyr of the 3rd century was condemned to the stake for her Christian faith by the orders of Impius Pascasius, the governor of the Roman Empire. Santa Lucia vowed chastity to endure pain. It is located on Fifth Avenue (5) at the corner of Eighth Street (8) in the downtown neighborhood of the municipality.
