Between April 13 and 17, the Colombia Film Commission launched its 2026 familiarization tour calendar with a new edition that brought together executives from Universal Television, HBO Max, and Fremantle, as well as the independent production company Ryder Picture Company. Over the course of five days, the group of producers traveled through Bogotá, Medellín, and Cartagena to explore locations, build partnerships, and discover the opportunities Colombia offers for high-end audiovisual productions.
The activities were designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the country’s audiovisual ecosystem: technical infrastructure, diverse landscapes, skilled crews, and the network of service companies that support international projects throughout the entire production chain.
The tour began in Bogotá with a welcome breakfast and a presentation on Colombia’s audiovisual incentives, including the CINA (Audiovisual Investment Certificate in Colombia) and the FFC (Colombia Film Fund). The agenda also included a visit to the set of the series DOC and the facilities of TIS Studios. The day concluded with a tour of the historic downtown area alongside the Bogotá Film Commission, which also showcased the city’s capabilities and strength as a filming destination.
In addition, Four Seasons opened its doors for a networking event between the international visitors and Colombian companies with experience in large-scale productions: 64A Films, AG Studios Colombia, Caracol Televisión, Cimarrón Cine Colombia, CMO Producciones, Dynamo Producciones, Jaguar Bite, Laberinto Cine y Televisión, RCN Televisión, Rhayuela Films, and Trompetero Producciones.
“This FAM Tour experience has been incredibly valuable: in just a few days, I was able to meet production companies, visit locations, and tour studios in Colombia, which is an extremely important tool for the industry. Beyond the professional aspect, it has also been a wonderful experience because of the people and everything we shared during these days.”
- Martín Solmesky, Vice President of Production, Fremantle
The next stop was Medellín, with the support of the Medellín Film Commission, which also presented its services and key strengths. The itinerary included iconic locations such as Parque Arví, the Metrocable, Plaza Botero, the Government Center, and Parques del Río. These settings highlighted the diversity of environments and the city’s versatility in terms of mobility and accessibility for different types of productions.
The Fam Tour concluded with two days in Cartagena, featuring additional meetings with local producers, visits to landmarks in the historic center, and tours of some of the islands that make up the Bolívar region.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to be in Colombia this week. We visited Bogotá, Medellín, and now Cartagena; we enjoyed ourselves, ate incredibly well, experienced the culture, and met many production service companies that have worked on amazing projects. We saw beautiful locations, from beaches to mountains. Colombia has it all. I’ve learned so much and met incredible people.”
- Hanna Knuuttunen, Executive Producer, HBO Max
With this first Fam Tour of the year, the Colombia Film Commission reaffirms its commitment to positioning the country as a consolidated, diverse, and competitive audiovisual hub, while continuing to promote a strategy based on direct experience: enabling production decision-makers from around the world to discover Colombia firsthand through coordinated work with public and private partners across the country.
